Updates re Music at Linwood North:

We have auditioned some students interested in learning to play the recorder this past week. Students will be advised early next week if they have been placed in a class.

Mrs Mackie will be auditioning students for the Senior Choir on Monday afternoon next week. Successful choir members will perform at school functions, assemblies, special events, and lead singing across the school. Two major events this year for the choir include the opening of our new school hall, and the Christchurch Schools Music Festival later in the year.

The past three weeks students at school have been learning to identify fast and slow pace (presto and largo), soft and loud sounds (piano and forte), and high and low pitch. The students have been keen to practice the Italian words for the music terms. They have been practicing saying them with an Italian accent which has enhanced the learning experience.

As well as learning to identify various aspects of music theory and knowledge students are gaining practical knowledge in learning the dynamics of singing various waiata. We have also been practising our theme song for the year 'Shine bright like a diamond'.
