We've had an amazing last couple of weeks in the Sound Arts - The Recorder groups are up and running, The Ukulele groups are auditioning this Tuesday, and the Senior Choir has been decided after auditions took place.
Ukulele lessons are on a Tuesday afternoon, Recorder Lessons are on Wednesdays, and Choir is on Monday afternoon.
Regular music lessons have been taking place across the school. We have been learning to identify dynamics in music, such as high and low sounds. We have been learning the Italian words for soft, loud, fast, slow, short and sharp sounds, and smoothly flowing music. We continue to learn to sing our theme song for the year "Shine bright like a diamond".
Here are some pics from our learning this week:

GOD DEFEND NEW ZEALAND
EIhowāAtua,

Mearohanoa
Kiahuakotepai;

Aotearoa
God of Nations at Thy feet,
In the bonds of love we meet,
Hear our voices, we entreat,
God defend our free land.
Guard Pacific's triple star
From the shafts of strife and war,
Make her praises heard afar,
God defend New Zealand.
READ ABOUT IT - DUFFY BOOKS SONG
I'm going to read my way around the world
Jump on a dream and go real far
I'm a Duffy kid so I'm a star
And I read about it
And when I tell my story, then I know I'll have the words
And when I tell my story, then I know I will be heard.
Chorus:
Going to read it. Read about it. I'm a Duffy kid and so proud of it You can do it. Nothing to it. I can help you if you want me to. Tall as a Totara Duffy Kids will read around the world
If you want to know what makes things go
If you want to know how the flowers grow
If you want to learn how to be the best you can
You just read about it.
And when I tell my story, then I know I have the words.
And when I tell my story, then I know I will be heard.
Chorus:
Going to read it. Read about it. I'm a Duffy kid and so proud of it You can do it. Nothing to it. I can help you if you want me to. Tall as a Totara Duffy Kids will read around the world
Chorus:
Going to read it. Read about it. I'm a Duffy kid and so proud of it You can do it. Nothing to it. I can help you if you want me to. Tall as a Totara Duffy Kids will read around the world

INDIVIDUALITY
CHORUS
It’s a song about me
It’s a song about me
It’s a song about my individuality
About the clothes I wear
About the colour of my hair
And it’s about who I want to be near
It’s a song about me
It’s a song about me
Sometimes I just want to be all by myself
And sometimes I don’t
Sometimes we do agree
And sometimes we don’t
Sometimes I want to do the same as you
I might also change my mind
CHORUS
It’s a song about me
It’s a song about me
It’s a song about my individuality
About the clothes I wear
About the colour of my hair
And it’s about who I want to be near
It’s a song about me
It’s a song about me
It’s good that all our faces aren’t the same
And it’s good that we all have a different name
And it’s good that we are all a different shape
Tall, short, big, small, in between
CHORUS
It’s a song about me
It’s a song about me
It’s a song about my individuality
About the clothes I wear
About the colour of my hair
And it’s about who I want to be near
It’s a song about me
It’s a song about me
You like to eat sardines with jam on top
And I like to drink hot chocolate till I pop
And you like to spread your toast with marmalade
I’ll try yours if you’ll try mine
CHORUS
It’s a song about me
It’s a song about me
It’s a song about my individuality
About the clothes I wear
About the colour of my hair
And it’s about who I want to be near
It’s a song about me
It’s a song about me
Yep, me!
